The Busan International Women's Association raises money to support those in the local Korean community who are in need. Each month BIWA donates funds to charitable organizations such as Love Field elderly, Bitdulae study room, Maesil Children's Home, various soup kitchens, and several individuals.
BIWA's two main fundraisers are a Christmas Bazaar and a Spring Event. Additional money is raised through membership fees, luncheon attendance, donations, and raffle ticket purchases.
Welfare Volunteering 2016/17
Every second Tuesday of the month from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM the Welfare Committee helps at the Haeundae Soup Kitchen.
We help to distribute the utensils and serve the food from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Other volunteers help prepare the food and wash the dishes. We are asked to take an apron and gloves. After the elderly are done eating, BIWA ladies can join the other volunteers for lunch there, if they would like to.
In addition to leaving with a good feeling about being helpful, BIWA ladies also have a good time socializing with one another.
A couple of pictures showing the environment follow.
Please contact the Welfare Committee Chairs, Soon Soog Hyun at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join us in some of the activities and/or if you would like to become more familiar with the BIWA's welfare work.
The soup kitchen is a few yards East of the Haeundae Station and across the street from the Sfunz building.
From the Station take Exit 2.
If you are coming by taxi, ask the driver to drop you off at the Haeundae Yok.
